About Marg:

Marg died on September 10th, 2008, of cancer.

Marg had been a member of the Art Pack for several years and, in addition to being a close friend of the other members, she was valued for her perceptive critiques and suggestions and her humorous way of giving them. The Art Pack has already missed Marg at their critiques for many months, though she managed to attend some of them, even fairly recently, and they will remember her with admiration for her many fine qualities and her wonderful artistic talent.

The following is Marg's own statement on herself as an artist:

"Marg Berchtold considers herself a self-imposed protégé of Georgia O’Keefe. She is most impressed with O’Keeffe’s loose abstracts and different experimentation of bright colors and contrast, along with her fluid representation of nature.  The philosophy of Marg’s art is to create paintings considered “out of the ordinary” or “different.”  The result is intriguing and allows room for individual interpretation.

"Marg’s medium transitioned from watercolor to acrylic in June of 2005. In that transition, her work has taken on an abstract impressionistic flair, with much of her creations coming from direct finger application. Her dream is that her paintings will continue to evolve in unison with her ever-changing perspective on life."
